This is a transcript of the Batman: The Animated Series episode "Batgirl Returns" from season two, which aired on November 12, 1994. It is divided into major dialogue sections for better comprehension.
DREAMING OF BATGIRL
- Batgirl: Back off, creeps!
- Batman: Batgirl.
- Batgirl: Are you alright?
- Batman: Yes. Thanks to you.
- Dick: Barbara! Hey, Babs! (Barbara wakes up from her dream) Yo, bookworm! You up there?
- Barbara: What is it, Dick?
- Dick: All work and no play, you know? Come on, let's do a pizza run.
- Barbara: Love to, but I can't. If I don't ace these midterms, Dad says he'll throw me in jail. And with my dad, that's no idle threat.
- Dick: Okay. Catch you later.
- Barbara: (sighs) Math. Why did it have to be math? (sees Gotham Times newspaper article, "Priceless Statuette Stolen In University Robbery") Hmm. Maybe I should take a break.
CONFRONTING CATWOMAN
AT NIGHT, CATWOMAN ARRIVES ON THE ROOF OF THE GOTHAM UNIVERSITY MUSEUM. SHE FINDS THE LOCK OF THE SKYLIGHT EATEN THROUGH, AND SHE DROPS DOWN ON THE MUSEUM FLOOR AND APPROACHES THE JADE CAT STATUE DISPLAY CASE. AS SHE LEANS DOWN TO EXCAMINE THE CASE, BATGIRL'S VOICE STARTLES HER
- Batgirl: Catwoman, I presume. (gasps)
- Catwoman: Well, well. Look what the Bat dragged in.
- Batgirl: Give up. I caught you.
- Catwoman: Caught me? At what?
- Batgirl: Returning to the scene of your crime.
- Catwoman: (sheepishly) Look, Batgirl, is it? I'm just trying to find out who took the Jade Cat Statue. It's an art treasure. It belongs to the world.
- Batgirl: Right. Pull the other one.
- Catwoman: Look. (indicates to the melted alarm cord)
- Batgirl: Huh? (examines the alarm cord) Looks like the alarm cord was eaten through with acid, like the locks on the skylight. So?
- Catwoman: That's not my style. No finesse. (unsheathes her claws, cuts a hole in the case and shows Batgirl glass circle) See?
- Batgirl: (sheepishly) Okay. If you're innocent, come down to police headquarters with me and tell them your story.
- Catwoman: That's also not my style. (starts walking away, Batgirl blocks her way)
- Batgirl: One way or another, you're coming with me.
- Catwoman: (unsheathes her claws) Bats are just mice with wings, little girl. (as they were about to fight, Robin drops in)
- Batgirl: Robin.
- Robin: Just came to investigate the robbery. I didn't expect a convention. Come on! She's getting away.
- Batgirl: Robin, wait! She's not...
- Robin: Here, kitty, kitty.
- Catwoman: Bye-bye, birdie. (throws net at Robin)
- Robin: Hey!
- Catwoman: We'll talk again, soon.
- Robin: Well, you were a lot of help.
- Batgirl: I tried to tell you; she didn't steal the jade cat.
- Robin: How do you know that?
- Batgirl: I just know, that's all.
- Robin: Oh, well, thank you, Ms. Psychic. And you call yourself a crime-fighter.
- Batgirl: If you'd listened instead of just barging in-
- Robin: Just don't get in my way again, okay? (swings away on his Batrope)
- Batgirl: Dork.
GIRL TEAM UP
AT THE GOTHAM UNIVERSITY GYM
- Girl #1: That was a great class.
- Girl #2: You said it.
- Girl #1: Let's go get a soda.
(Barbara sees a cat shaped note saying, "TO THE WINGED MOUSE". She opens it and sees the message, "BAYSHORE PIER TONIGHT". Barbara gasps and then leaves the gym. Batgirl arrives at Bayshore Pier and finds Catwoman waiting for her)
- Catwoman: Got the note, I see.
- Batgirl: If this is a trick, Catwoman...
- Catwoman: No trick. I just wanted to tell you how impressed I was with you last night. You're smart, and you're fast. I thought maybe you'd like to work together. After all, against the two of us, whoever took the jade cat doesn't stand a chance.
- Batgirl: Okay. On one condition. If you're lying to me and I find out, you'll give yourself up.
- Catwoman: Deal
