Reviews[]

In 2014, John Takis reviewed the soundtrack from Eternal Youth as part of the 3rd Volume of Original Soundtracks from Batman: The Animated Series.

"Poison Ivy is rare among the show's majoe Bat-villains in that her theme -which first appeared in the jointly composed episode Pretty Poison- was written not by Shirley Walker but Lolita Ritmanis. Eternal Youth is notable for being the only dedicated Poison Ivy episode to be scored by Ritmanis. - Head in harp, in its purest form, the theme becomes ever more urgent, dramatic and violent as the episode goes on.

Composer Lolita Ritmanis stated the following about the score and the two bonus tracks of source music:

"Ivy's theme is a simple motif, based on two elements. A singable 'I-vy' two-note phrase, and the harmonic structure of a major seventh under each note. Because of its simplicity, this theme was easily inserted into any scene where we needed to feel Ivy's presence, her mysterious and sophisticated style. - During the climax, it can be heard in an almost frenzied way, repeating over and over. I have a memory of Shirley singing my Ivy theme to me over the talkback- she was following the score in the booth while I was conducting.

It was fun to channel my inner cruise ship composer for those scenes, and it was also rewarding to hear the orchestra play some of the more lush harmony for the beauty of the spa and its soothing waters."
