This is background information and production notes of the episode Harley and Ivy, from season one of Batman: The Animated Series.

Production Notes[]

  • Shirley Walker is credited both as "Supervising Composer" as well as the sole composer of the episode's score. However, and according to the credits on Batman: The Animated Series Original Soundtrack, Volume 2, this episode's score was also composed by Lolita Ritmanis, Michael McCuistion and Peter Davidson.   • The frat boys in the car are based on Bruce Timm, Ted Blackman and Eric Radomski.
  • The name of the diamond that Harley steals is misspelled on its casing. It reads "HARLEOUIN" instead of the more likely "HARLEQUIN".
  • The friendship between Harley and Ivy proved to be such a popular addition to the animated continuity, it was also adapted into the comics continuity.
  • The scene where Ivy reveals her car is a tribute to a similar scene from Tim Burton's Batman (1989).
  • This episode is one of Arleen Sorkin's two favorite episodes.

Voice Acting[]

  • Robert Costanzo voices Joker's thug, Rocco, but is credited for playing Harvey Bullock, who does not appear in this episode.
  • Neil Ross is credited for voicing the Peregrinator's Club Chairman, but is not credited for voicing Joker's henchman, Henshaw.


"Harley and Ivy" has been released as part of the following Home video sets:
