Reviews[]

In 2014, John Takis reviewed the soundtrack from Heart of Steel, Part I as part of the 3rd Volume of Original Soundtracks from Batman: The Animated Series.

The soundtrack for the episode was jointly scored by Richard Bronskill and Tamara Kline. There is much grandiose, angular writing reminiscent of Franz Waxman and Gottfried Huppertz, with Kline in particular using brass to monstrous effect. A respite is Bronskill's sultry theme for the Randa duplicant, performed by a solo trombone with a clarinet counterline.
The bonus section for this soundtrack includes material from all composers. First is Kline's futuristic source music for piano and trumpet, evoking J.S. Bach's double violin concerto in its opening measures. The next track contains alternate performances for Bronskill's theme for Randa, heard in saxophone rather than trombone.

Composer Richard Bronskill explained:

"It was a short writing process. I think it came together quite well in the end, though."
